This week’s Euroscopic podcast will be out soon. For those who already want a taste of it (or actually like to read), here’s what’s on the menu:
Amuse-bouche
They may eat horse in the Netherlands, but don’t mess with European officials’ ponies.
Starter
Austria’s ex-foreign minister pulls up stakes and heads to Russia (yes, with ponies in tow). Germany’s ex-chancellor might like to be in Russia, too, but will have to settle for a very awkward party in his honor at the very local level. Gerhard Schröder is coming up on 25 years since he took power, once again demonstrating that not even a war will get between Germans and a runde anniversary.
Primo
Turning to economics (no, please don’t go!): The European Investment Bank is getting a new boss. Who might it be, why, and … what’s the EIB again?
Secondo
The State of the Union. No, not that one. The other one. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed European Parliament this week to deliver perhaps her final annual address touting how great she and the executive she leads are. Still no real indication if she is great enough to keep on past European Parliament elections next year.
Nachtisch
There is no dessert. Severe weather in Greece has made sure of that.
Doggy bag
America’s most valuable company bows to EU regulation. Meanwhile, one of Europe’s most valued companies goes to the U.S., hoping to get rich by going public.
Still hungry?
